How Long Does It Take to Verify Your Google Places Page

Share this:

SEO Maverick recently moved into our new offices so we decided to create a Google Places page for this location.

We filled out all the necessary information in the Google Places listing to get the 100% completion rate including the logo, categories, location, description and services offered.

I thought it would be a good idea to keep track on how long it took to get the PIN verification postcard in the mail.

In our case, it took exactly 15 days to get the postcard which wasn’t too bad!

It appears that these postcards are being sent from the USA via air mail. For Australian businesses, this is why it can take a long time so two weeks is not a bad outcome. I’ve had other clients where the PIN just didn’t arrive at all so we had to request a new one.

Once the PIN from the verification postcode is entered, you are then taken to PIN confirmation page.

Overall this was a pretty quick turnaround for getting this verification PIN postcard. If your postcard hasn’t arrived after 20 days, I would definitely be requesting a new one – but remember, if you request a 2nd PIN and your 1st PIN does arrive in the mail, it won’t work and you’ll have to wait for the 2nd one!

How long has it taken for your business to receive your verification PIN in the mail?

Registered on 3 July. Postcard arrived 27 July.

  3. This is a real nuisance…I changed a letter from lower case to upper in my listing and had to go through the verification again. So now I’m waiting for another postcard and my site has gone off the listing. Incredible!

  4. I had it done through the phone. They have sent me an SMS with the PIN. It only took 2 minutes. Hope I helped.

    • Hi mate,

I know it was a while ago but do you remember who you called?
I tried Google, Sydney, but they couldn’t help me.

With Google’s direct access to street view photos I would think it would be very easy to confirm a location. Why resort to archaic forms of verification like mailing out a postcard. I’m on my second verification request for no less than TWO locations!
